Blaine's Upcoming Test

Please remember Blaine in your prayers over the next couple of days. We take him Thursday to have a renal scan to check the function of his kidney. He usually has one about once a year. It is usually a terrible ordeal. I have been dreading if for monthes. Each time there have been difficulties finding a vein for the IV. We, as well as several nurses, have to hold him down while they try multiple times to find a vein. It is so hard for Neal and me and sometimes we even have the nurses crying. Last time, we finally asked for them to put the cream on his skin that deadends it (I can't remember the name of it). It did help some. We have requested that to be done to start with this time.

After thy get the IV in we go to the nuclear lab for his test. It usually takes over a hour for the test to be done. He has to be extremely still, which is very, very hard. It takes a lot of bribbing.

After the test we have an appointment with his urologist to find out the results from the scan. We are hoping and praying that his kidney is still functioning well and it will not require surgery. I can't imagine putting him through another surgery.

In case you don't know about his kidney problems, he was born with a blockage in the tube that goes from his right kidney to his bladder. At 3 months old, he had surgery to remove the blockage (pyroplasty). Since then, he has had stents put in 2 different times and a redo of the pyroplasty due to scar tissue forming.

On a brighter note, Judd went to his ENT yesterday and his ears looked good. He got clearance to swim and go to the beach, but he has to stay out of the intertube this summer. I guess he will just have to watch from the boat or land!
