Blaine's Renal Scan

We went today for Blaine's scan and we are so glad that it is over for another year. We had some really sweet nurses. They only had to stick him 2 times today, which is a big improvement from the usual 4 or 5 times. It was still very painful for him and very hard for Daddy and Moma to watch. The scan went very well. Toward the end he had to go to the bathroom really bad, but we managed to hold him off until the scan was finished. (It lasted right at 50 minutes.) The fluids going through his kidneys fill his bladder really quickly. Imagine trying to keep a 5 year old occupied for that long. He was strapped down to a table and could only move his hands. But, we made it. He also had an ultasound, which was a piece of cake! We got to see Dr. Harmon and he said that his kidney function is about the same as it was last year. His right kidney only functions at about 23 or 24%. He said to come back next year for another scan. So, thank the Lord there's no surgery scheduled for this year!
