Our Thanksgiving

We had a really good Thanksgiving! We started our meals the Sunday before Thanksgiving with Neal's family at Nana's. On Thanksgiving Day we celebrated with my family at Jean Jean and Grandaddy's. On Saturday we celebrated with friends the cajun way- with shrimp gumbo and a crab boil. I love a traditional Thanksgiving meal, but the gumbo and crab were really good also!

Watching the parade before lunch.

Resting up for the big meal!

Judd must have been hungry. He went to the table and found his seat, got up in it and was ready to eat!

So, I fixed his plate early! I think he wiped his mouth with every napkin on the table before we even sat down!

Picking out the perfect tree

It has become a tradition to stop and get our real Christmas tree on the way home from Thanksgiving lunch. So, this year we went in search of the perfect one. Along the way, Judd found a cat to chase and Blaine found a stick to play with.

Blaine--"I like this one."

Waiting for our tree

Blaine got to put the first ornament on the tree..one that he made last year.

Thanksgiving Day Deer

Neal got his first buck of the season on Thanksgiving day afternoon. It was an 8 point. The boys were so excited. Blaine had planned to go hunting with him, but decided to stay and help me decorate the tree. Blaine and Judd played around the barn for a while but soon got cold and decided that it was time to go home!

I am thankful for...

my immediate family... the lights of my life, my family, Neal's family, friends, and all the many blessings the Lord had granted us this year. Of couse, this is not everyting I am thankful for, but it is the main things. I hope each of you has a very Happy Thanksgiving. Don't forget to thank the Lord for all of the many wonderful things that he has given each of us!

Girls Foley Get-a-way

Suzanne, Ginger, and I pulled out early Friday afternoon heading south to Foley to do some major Christmas shopping!
We got there a little after 5 and checked into our hotel. We had a very nice room at Holiday Inn Express. It was practically brand new. Thanks, Jamey! Next we ate at Lamberts. Ginger had never been there and was a little nervous about catching a roll! She did catch hers from across the room! We had so much food. We all got the same thing and could barely put a dent in it. It was so good and we were so stuffed! But, we walked it all off at Old Time Pottery. We found some great deals! After a trip to Wal-Mart and Dollar Tree we called it a night and headed to the hotel.

We were all excited about getting to sleep a little late until someone called with a wrong number at 5:30 Saturday morning. Of course, we couldn't go back to sleep and just stayed up and talked and watched tv. Cracker Barrell was right beside our hotel. So, guess where we went for breakfast?
I had some delicious pancakes!

We had so much fun. It was good to get a way for a little while! We found some really good deals and got so much shopping done. We shopped all day and got home around 9:30 Saturday night.
When we left...
when we got home!
We had to put our luggage in the back seat to have room for all of our bags!

I had to use my suitcase as a baracade to keep the bags from falling out of the back. I can really say that our trip was worth it!! I can't wait until next year!

Bunko

I hosted bunko last Monday night. I ordered these petit fours for dessert and they turned out so cute...I had to post a picture! We also had chicken salad or ham/turkey and cheese croissants and cream cheese rotel dip and chips.

The prizes. We had a first...1 player won three prizes!

A hunting we will go...

or a hunting we have been. This picture was taken about 9:00 Saturday night after they got home from hunting. I went to a wedding Saturday afternoon and wasn't home in time to take pictures before they left. We really didn't think that Blaine would even be able to go because he had been coughing every breath. It was really bad Friday and Friday night. Well, Saturday morning he got up and was coughing very little!
Neal and Blaine didn't see a deer, but some of the others in the club did. One got a 9 point and another got a doe. Maybe next time they will have more luck!

Helping Daddy Work

Saturday the boys went with Neal to the hunting club to help move deer stands. Blaine loves to go and play with another little boy that is usually there with his daddy. You can look at the smile on Judd's face and see how excited he was about getting to go with them. He usually has to stay home with me. When Neal told him to get his clothes on so he could go with them he started clapping his hands and saying "yeah, yeah".
I think Neal was a little excited to be taking both of his boys with him. He had to take pictures with his phone while I was taking these.

I have to admit that I kind of enjoyed my time alone, too!

These are the days that we will always remember!

The Virus

A virus has swept through our house this week taking down everyone but me. That's right, I haven't gotten sick yet. It all started early Sunday morning with Judd. Poor thing, he has had a really hard time with it. Monday afternoon he was finally feeling better. Well, Blaine got sick early Tuesday moring right before Neal got sick. Jamey had it, too. He had to stay in his hotel room all day yesterday with it. I felt so sorry for him. Yesterday was a terrible day. Blaine was sick, but really didn't have it all that bad. Judd still didn't feel good. Neal stayed passed out on the couch most of the day. Last night things started looking better. Besides being weak, everyone is pretty much back to normal today! Thank the Lord! I'm hoping and praying that I don't get it! I've got several post coming up just as soon as I find time to upload the pictures!

I guess no news is good news...

Things have been kind of quiet with us lately. That's not saying that we haven't been busy, though! We've had a lot going on... just not much to blog about. I enjoyed a nice quiet weekend. Saturday, I did some major house cleaning. My house was a disaster. I can't remember the last time is was that bad! I stayed in my pajamas pretty much all day. I really needed a day like that. They are just so refreshing! Blaine was gone with Neal for most of the day. Judd and I enjoyed our time together. We have had things going on the past several weekends and this past Saturday and this Saturday are the only two free ones until after new years. Our holiday season is filling up fast. Our weekends are pretty much booked and our week days and nights are running out. We're already having a hard time scheduling our Sunday school Christmas party when everyone can be there. But, that's good. It wouldn't be the Christmas season if we weren't busy! I have started thinking about my Christmas shopping and getting my list together. It seems to grow each year!

We have some fun things coming up. Blaine is really getting excited about youth hunting season starting on Saturday. He and Neal have been target practicing. Blaine is getting to the age to begin to enjoy hunting with Neal. I'm glad that Blaine wants to go with him. It will be good for both of them.

I have a fun little get-a-way coming up with a couple of friends. I can't wait! Monday night is my turn to host bunko. I've been trying to get all of my gifts and decide what to fix. I think I've pretty much gotten everything taken care of.

Judd has a birthday coming up. It's hard to believe that my baby is going to be 2 very soon! I think the terrible two's have already started. He has a mind of his own. He is so sweet, but sometimes he really gives me fits. I just try to keep in mind that this phase will pass by fast... and that I need to enjoy each moment to the fullest.

That's about all of the updates I can think of right now. I'll have more pictures to post soon. Have a great week and and even better weekend!
