Judd the Monkey

Judd is growing so much. He loves to climb as you can see. He has learned to walk up the steps instead of crawling up them. He just holds on the the rail and takes his time. Where did my baby go?

Thankfully he still crawls down them unless someone is there to hold his hand.

I'm not sure what he thought he was doing here...He didn't make it very far up before he almost fell.

He loves to play in my cabinets. He thought this bowl would actually stay on his foot for him to walk. He got so mad because it just would not work!

So, I guess he just decided to settle with it on his head!

Uncle Jamey brought Blaine and Judd this riding Kabota tractor a couple of weeks ago. They have had to learn to share it. Here, I guess he is testing his balance!

He can be so sweet and innocent!

Blaine's Renal Scan

We went today for Blaine's scan and we are so glad that it is over for another year. We had some really sweet nurses. They only had to stick him 2 times today, which is a big improvement from the usual 4 or 5 times. It was still very painful for him and very hard for Daddy and Moma to watch. The scan went very well. Toward the end he had to go to the bathroom really bad, but we managed to hold him off until the scan was finished. (It lasted right at 50 minutes.) The fluids going through his kidneys fill his bladder really quickly. Imagine trying to keep a 5 year old occupied for that long. He was strapped down to a table and could only move his hands. But, we made it. He also had an ultasound, which was a piece of cake! We got to see Dr. Harmon and he said that his kidney function is about the same as it was last year. His right kidney only functions at about 23 or 24%. He said to come back next year for another scan. So, thank the Lord there's no surgery scheduled for this year!

Blaine's Upcoming Test

Please remember Blaine in your prayers over the next couple of days. We take him Thursday to have a renal scan to check the function of his kidney. He usually has one about once a year. It is usually a terrible ordeal. I have been dreading if for monthes. Each time there have been difficulties finding a vein for the IV. We, as well as several nurses, have to hold him down while they try multiple times to find a vein. It is so hard for Neal and me and sometimes we even have the nurses crying. Last time, we finally asked for them to put the cream on his skin that deadends it (I can't remember the name of it). It did help some. We have requested that to be done to start with this time.

After thy get the IV in we go to the nuclear lab for his test. It usually takes over a hour for the test to be done. He has to be extremely still, which is very, very hard. It takes a lot of bribbing.

After the test we have an appointment with his urologist to find out the results from the scan. We are hoping and praying that his kidney is still functioning well and it will not require surgery. I can't imagine putting him through another surgery.

In case you don't know about his kidney problems, he was born with a blockage in the tube that goes from his right kidney to his bladder. At 3 months old, he had surgery to remove the blockage (pyroplasty). Since then, he has had stents put in 2 different times and a redo of the pyroplasty due to scar tissue forming.

On a brighter note, Judd went to his ENT yesterday and his ears looked good. He got clearance to swim and go to the beach, but he has to stay out of the intertube this summer. I guess he will just have to watch from the boat or land!

Weekend Highlights

We had a pretty full weekend. I'll tell you about it. Friday night we went Neal 's step-brother's rehersal supper. We dropped the boys off at Grandaddy and Jean Jean's. Grandaddy did most of the babysitting because Jean Jean had some other things to do. I think they checked cows and mules until the dark. I'm sure the boys were in hog heaven! Next, we had to run by the funeral home. A sweet little lady in our chuch died at the age of 99. Can you imagine being 99 years old? Then, we were off to Newton to Zack Garvins. Zack's is very high on my list of favorites and it sure didn't let us down this time. The food was great! After picking up the sleeping boys and checking the chickens it was after midnight when we got home. We were exhausted!

Saturday morning we were up bright and early. I guess I was so tired Friday night that I forgot to turn my alarm off. It went off at 5 am. I'm sure Neal wanted to kill me! But, he did need to get up. He had alot to get done. I did manage to go back to sleep for a little while. However it wasn't long until Judd woke up. We did get some great snuggle time in before getting up. Later on Judd must have gotten lonesome because he went upstairs without me knowing and woke Blaine up. I started looking for him and the closer I got to the stairs all I could hear was "Bubba" and "ohh wee". He loves to wake up Blaine. I was busy cooking food to take to the family of the lady that passed away and didn't realize that Judd was trying to climb my corner baker's rack. The rack and everything on it fell on top of him. He was fine...just alittle scared. My Gail Pittman utensil holder and several other things were not so lucky. Only a couple of things on my shelves survived. As much broken glass as there was, it's a wonder that Judd wasn't hurt bad! Saturday afternoon we went to the wedding and reception. The boys stayed with Jean Jean and Mimi. The wedding and reception were very nice! When we went to pick-up the boys, Grandaddy and Jean Jean talked us into going to Big Bill's to eat. The food was good, but Judd was not liking it. He was not happy. I don't think he was feeling well.

Sunday morning Judd and I got up and he immediately wanted something to drink. I gave him juice. I usually give him milk in the mornings, but it's a good thing I didn't because after drinking the whole cup full, he got sick at this stomach. Juice was much easier to clean up than milk would have been! After he had a nap, he was fine. So, while Neal went to church, Blaine, Judd, and I had a lazy day. I think I kind of need that. It was a nice break!

A Bow Holder for Grace

Blaine is going to Grace' s birthday party this afternoon at Gatti Town. I had a really good time making her present...a bow holder!
